·       Swimming costume, shorts or trunks

·       Towel

·       A swimming cap is required for girls/ those with longer hair

·       Swimming goggles (optional)

READING

In LKS2, children are becoming more independent readers. It is recommended that children read for 15-20 minutes daily.
To support comprehension and understanding they should also read and discuss the text with an adult.

Year 3 children will spend some lesson time exploring how to write reading comments and examples will be provided for parents. Reading comments are expected to be completed independently at home in their reading comment book (cream book).

On weeks where a reading comment isn’t given, children will be expected to complete two comprehensions on Reading Plus (log on details will be given separately) and complete the reading record (yellow) card.

Your child should bring their reading book and reading record card/reading comment book back to school every Thursday. The following day, they will receive a new reading book and either a reading record card or their reading comment book. This will alternate on a weekly basis, please note both card and book need to be signed by a parent/guardian.

SPELLING

Spelling lists will be given every Friday. These can be found in your child’s spelling book so they can remain at home for regular practice – short bursts are recommended. Children will need their books in school for the weekly test on Friday.
